I had simular issues at school, i would have maybe 4-5 hours sleep a night, and knowing i had to go in i would and never being any later than if i had probably had a full nights sleep!

Though i would end up so tired i would come home and sleep for an hour or 2. This isnt really a good idea probably, but i felt like i had no other choice.

The fact you have thoughts makes total sense, i have the same and some of my friends have mentioned it too. I have heard ideas like spending some time before you go to bed, maybe an hour before or something, collecting all your thoughts and writing them down, a little like a diary...this way you have sorted them out and dont need to think about them anymore, though i havent tried this. You could see a doctor, as i beleive it counts as a form of insomnia, and they may be able to help.

I feel its a good idea to see a doctor as soon as possible though, as i have been going through the same for 4-5 years its not getting any better and im at uni now and its not good and i can feel it not being good for my health.

At least and hour or so before bed you need to try to clear your mind. Don't drink caffeinated beverages, don't do a strenuous workout, don't eat a heavy meal at dinner or right before bed. Purposely get up early tomorrow morning so that you're too tired to try to stay up late.
