Do Hydrocodone and Oxycodone for chronic pain increase the pain indeed?!

Question: I have a severe handi-cap and a debilitating injury that is beyond help, with severe nerve damages. I have been on Vicodin for about 14 years, three times a day. I have no problem with them.
There are times I know the pill doesn't help but, that's the way it is. I also have a Medtronic spinal stimulator that I turn up to help mask the pain.

I'm not speaking about a pain that will go away eventually or heal, I'm speaking about pain that is horrendous at times, that makes my wife sit and hold me, a pain that at times, I wish to take that step through that door into eternity and, in fact I have considered it at times, the pain was so bad.
You don't learn to live with pain like this. The lady that said her husband was getting a morphine pump, it's the biggest mistake he can do, I hope she sees this.

The Medtronic spinal pain stimulator saved my life and, I suggest she see her neurologist about it.

it does, but you get so ripped on the meds that you don;t care.

They are to rid you of the pain and not meant to take long term and not at the same time.

I know they can make you nauseated if you're not used to taking medicine but I've never heard of them increasing the pain.

increase the pain? not in my experience. however, you can become immune to the effects of the drug, requiring you to take more and more to get the same effect as you once did... just like almost any drug, legal or illegal.

no, but they get you addicted

Im' not sure what your asking. But pain meds decrease the pain. Untill the med starts to wear off.

I have taken both and they both never have caused me anymore pain than what i was in. If they did anything they made me go to sleep or feel woozy but other than that I dont think that they cause more pain. And one more thing the only time that pills become addictive is when they are ABUSED thats why they call it drug abuse. But I have never gotten addicted to them ever and I have taken them on two different occasions.

If you use them everyday for a long period of time yes they can cause extreme and constant pain. Every once in a while they are great!

yes it dose

They will lower your pain threshold. So simple pain will be felt stronger.
That's how it happens...still these continue being prescribed.

They don't increase the pain but you may build a tolerance for them.

They CAN be taken together. My husband is under the care of a pain management doctor who has prescribed both for him. Our next step is surgery or a morphine pump.

figure this way, drugs can only do so much, if your that broken, you need to be fixed by the doctors.if you no longer feel oxycottn or hydrowhatever are working for you, stop taking them, ask for different pain killers. if you MUST have those 2 meds and ONLY those 2 meds, then stop lying, your hooked.

I just stopped taking hyrdocodone... it saved me... i had my tonsils removed and you have no clue how much pain it puts you in at my age. I owe the hyrdrocodone to my well being because it was the only thing that took the pain away and the only thing that made me able to eat during the experience... after 3 days i was done with the bottle and needed a new perscription... i tried using normal tylenol when i had no hydrocodone and was feeling so incredibly lousy... after only 8 days i stopped taking hyrdrocoodone and i feel like a million bucks... hyrdocodone takes away pain by making it just not affect you and brings you to a state where pain doesn't particularly matter... its not that strong of a trip and it helps so much

They temporarily relieve the pain just like any other medication. However, if you become dependent on them and suddenly stop using them, you will develop flu like symptoms and your legs will kick uncontrollably. It's like the drug heroin. I would say be very careful when using these medications. They are highly addictive. Take only what is prescribed to you. If the medicine hasn't been prescribed to you, you don't need to take it at all. Take Tylenol or Advil if you must. They relieve pain also.

Sometimes it can.It may fix the pain for the chronic pain but, can cause you to have side effects which sometimes can be worse or almost as bad as the original problem and each person is different so their bodies will react differently to the medications. Both of these drugs are highly addictive so please be very careful if you really need to take them.

No it does not increase pain.

I take both meds everyday and have for years due to a cervical spine injury.

It's either that or not get out of bed and not be able to walk, dress myself, etc.

People that talk badly about pain meds have never been in pain that doesn't go away, is always with you. The meds just make life tolerable
