Answers: how will that affect me? this is just a one time thing. I just can't sleep comfortably!

I wasn't going to answer but I can't get "this is just a one time thing" out of my head. I have a knee injury that I waiting for knee replacement surgery for, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, degenerative arthritis in my lower spine, and I have had maybe only one or two days in 2007 that were pretty much pain free.
I have Vicodin on hand all time, but it scares me death. I am on a anti-depressant called Cymbalta. I was prescribed both. When I do take Vicodin it is so I can make it through a work day , then I only take 2 a day, and I won't allow myself to take more, or any on a non-work day. Thankfully most of time I don't have to take it at all. I think I am "allowed" to take 2 tabs up to 4 times a day! I have had back pain for years , and will have for the rest of my life , so this is why your question scares me.Understand? I am older than most you here , have had some substance abuse in my family and don't want to take any chances with it.
Pills are nothing to mess with. Is your back pain going away in one day? Will the next nights sleep be comfortable? Not trying to a anger , just very concerned.... Please be careful, everybody thinks 'it can't happen to me'.

i wouldnt mix medications until you make sure its ok with you pharmacist. i used to work at a medical examiners office, and we had alot of cases of people doing just that, and ending up on our table after and accidental death. dont do it

I'm no doctor and you should consult one if this continues. Although, you should sleep well. I wouldn't make a habit of mixing them, though. You're not going to OD 'n die by taking one of each, but not advising - both very powerful drugs not to be taken lightly. Good luck to you - hope you recover soon. Happy New Year.........

If both were prescribed by your doctor for your back, just follow the instructions on the bottle. If they are just pills laying around the house, I wouldn't take anything without calling a hospital and asking someone if okay to take together. You didn't say the dosage of either pill and we don't know your medical history. Really, call a hospital or pharmacy and ask them for advice - those are strong meds. But if you asked my sister, who suffers from chronic back pain, she would say go ahead because she takes a vicodin and a xanax every night for her back pain. Wouldn't make a habit of it if you decide to do it --- watching sis go through withdrawal was not pretty.

I use both medications daily for spine injury. I've never had any problems
