I quit smoking 3+ months ago, and I'm still coughing and spitting up stuff. !

Question: i REALLY wish it would stop! i have a constant post nasal drip. i got a Neti Pot, but its so hard to do a nasopharyngeal flush. plus i think I'd be there for hours flushing that area out. please help me figure out what to do. I'd rather not go to the doctor, but if you think it is absolutely necessary i will consider it. I'm frustrated because this is the main reason i quit smoking! i got tired of spitting stuff up all the time (especially in the morning).

Depending how long you smoked, you could cough up stuff for years. I dated a guy who could actually get a small puff of smoke out of his lungs after quiting 3 yrs earlier and he didn't even smoke that long. Although you don't want to go to the doctor, it is probably the best thing. There could be other reasons that you are still spitting stuff up.

Congratulations on quitting!!! Smoking is a tough habit to quit and I'm proud that you have made it this long!

It all depends on how long you smoked. My grandfather smoked for 30 years and stopped but still coughed up stuff for 15 years later.
