How concerned should I be about a possible spider bite?!

Question: I have an area about the size of a half dollar on my stomach that's infected.. I've cleared it but doesn't appear to be going away. think it's ok to wait a day to see how it progresses?

I'm sick of the doctor. sheez.

If it is a Brown Recluse you HAVE to see a Dr. There may be other spiders just as bad.

You need to see a doctor. You need antibiotics for this and they will probably give you an antibiotic topical cream to put on, as well.

ok well u deff need to go c a doctor i knnow how u feel i hatem 2, but u nvr know wat kinda spider it is and wat kinda damage it has done or will do. plzz 4 ur safty dont wait any longer it could get ugly fast! hope it helps!!!!

yeah id see a doctor right away...last week my uncle was bit by a brown recluse spider on his back and didnt realize what it was, then it got pretty bad and went into the emergency room...they told him if he would of waited another day to go in he could have died.

you shoud go see the docter if you really dont want to put bug cream on it.

you may be having an allergic reaction. You can try benadril (either pill or ointment form) and see how that goes before you go and pay for a Dr. visit. It often helps people who have been stung by bees. If you take the benedril in pill form, still find something to put on the bite itself, like maybe peroxide which will clear out any bacteria. Infections are usually caused by bacteria, which may be a result of scratching the bite because of an allergic reaction.

With all the recent hoopla about MRSA, I would definitely have it checked out since it hasn't gone away. Insist on a culture to make sure it's not MRSA.

You didn't specify if you had been on antibiotics or if you have any other symptoms.

you did not say how long ago the bite was ,, its not a black widow or u would be in excruciating pain its not a brown recluse spider or u would be in worse shape yet it eats the flesh from your body it wirst swells a little then turns purple ,, woe be careful.. mj

(((PEDI)))) Hamsters missing and spiders appearing...Poor Kiddo! Put the spider in the basement and bring the hamster into the house!

This sounds more like a staph infection, or cyst. Not a spider bite. I would recommend going to the doctor. Especially since it is the size of a silver dollar that is pretty big.

Please, go to see a doctor. Longer you wait, bigger problem you have is the bite is bad kind. I have had two friends in hospital because of the delayed medical help after the spider bite.

Hon, I don't want to scare you or sound overly dramatic, but if it is looking infected like that you MUST go to the doctor.

Some spiders inject a venom that causes tissue damage and others carry flesh eating bacteria. It can cause gangrene and loss of limbs and/or life. On the stomach would be a very bad place to have such an infection.

Please go to the doctor hon. ((((Pedi C)))))

It depends on what kind of spider bit you. Put some stingose on it and then go to the doctors. You have to!! you have no other choice anyway.
