Could anyone answer a question about headaches?!

Question: I get headaches that do not go away with sleep or with pain killers. Sometimes it is pain behind my eyes and other times it may be a sharp pain behind one eye only. It can last from one day to a week but usually for a few days. It happens about every 3-8 weeks. The only thing that seems to help is taking pain killers and then after an hour taking anti anxiety medication which makes me sleep. I don't want to rely on this as I can't drive while on these tablets. What could be the cause of my headaches and what could I try to get rid of them?

This happened to me a while ago. I went to see a neurologist, he said they were migraines, and he prescribed me a medicine (Amytryptiline [spelling?]) He said sports drinks like Gatorade or Powerade work because of the salt content or something. He also told me that certain foods increase migraines.
-Chocolate- certain chemicals in chocolate may help worsen migraines in some people.
-Anything with Caffeine-(or if you drank a lot of caffeine and then stopped drinking it.) If you drink 3 cups of coffee morning evening and night for years and then stop suddenly your body goes through withdrawal causing migraines.
-Green vegetable prevent migraines.
this is what my doc told me. Dunno if it will help but it helped me.

should get your blood presure checked

maybe your under alot of stress?

i think they are sinus headaches.. check with your dr... could be something more serious.. i hope not though.. good luck

Have you ever thought about getting glasses? Or maybe contacts? If I dont wear my glasses enough I get REALLY bad headaches behind my eyes, or usually my right eye.

see a neurologist for migraines

get in a quiet area and dim or turn off the lights and try to relax sometimes the headache can be triggered by allergies or sometimes different smells i heard that can trigger headache so take a look around your environment and see can any of those factors contribute to your headaches

Immetrix is a medication used for migraines which is what it sounds like you are having

my parents dont believe me they say im fine so theres nothing i can do about it

have faith in ur selves first ,( i mean..faith to get cured)

I get migraines too. Have you talked to your doctor about them? I suggest going to your doctor if you have not already. Do some tension-releasing yoga. And RELAX!! Relaxing is a huge part of headache relief. I hope you feel better. :)

try rubbing your fore head or push you temples and rube them
or lay in bed with the light off and put ice pack on your head

maybe its not a headache, you should see your eye doctor if you having the pain behind your eyes...b.t.w. E's-up on the pills

could be a migraine problem. I would visit a doctor.

it seems like you have chronic migraines like me. or bad sinus headaches with migraines you usually see little spaceships is what i call them but i think there called auroa. i found excedrin to be the only thing that really helps me and sinus headache pills i can't take the imitrex but i know a lot of people who say it is a lifesaver to them i know how you feel i have had a headache for 15 years and i've been through just about every test doctor u can think of there not always as painful as the spike in the eye thats what i call the one your describing. have you ever had a head injury? if so you can always try a cat scan or mri. but if feel your pain believe me i hope this helps
