Cracked lip....help?!

Question: I have really horribly dry lips. No amount of balm seems to help. I drink plenty of water(heard that is supposed to help) and I do not lick my lips.
Yesterday, the center of my bottom lip cracked open, and it really hurts.
I have had this happen before, but not like this. It bled for almost 10 minutes, although not very much, and now this spot on my lip is raised up, almost like some sort of disease sore.
Anyone know how to make it hurt less or heal faster?
Any tips to stop this from happening in the first place appreciated too...

When it's severely cracked, there's not much you can do to heal it quick but let time take care of it.

If you're not finding a lip balm that is suitable or mosturizing enough, I strongly suggest to stop using the typical store bought balms or Vaseline.
Those are either petroleum or chemical based products that can dry out your lips even more, or make you feel like you have to constantly re-apply.

I'm an avid lip balm collector and fan of natural, homemade, or handmade body products, using all natural ingredients.
Do a Google search for "handmade lip balm" and you'll get an idea of the ingredients used.
Those natural products are much higher in quality and more pure; they are usually a blend of beeswax, cocoa butter, mango butter, shea butter, essential oils, etc.
Basically, ingredients that are so natural you can eat them.

Vasaline should work best. Put it on, don't touch it, & reapply often. I've been there & I know it hurts REALLY badly! Good luck & I hope it gets better soon.

Vaseline for right before bed and if you get up during the night.

Carmex for mornings and when you're out during the day. Carmex has a pretty foul smell, but it will help you heal.

I use MaryKay nightcream. I put it on my lips every night before I go to bed and in the morning they are not cracked and nice and soft.

My 10 year old goes through this (my poor baby). I apply a thin layer of Vaseline at night and through out the day.
Once the skin cracks & bleeds it takes a while to heal, but it does heal.
I have vasaline all over the house & in my car for him. I also make him take some to school to apply through out the day.

Now I know this happends throughout the winter season so we concentrate on preventing then rather than fixing them.

use moisturising cream . and N E V E R lik your lips.
