Broken coccyx - any good excercise ideas?!

Question: I broke my coccyx about 4 weeks ago and it is finally getting better. However I still can't sit for long periods of time (it becomes stiff and painful to stand up) Sometimes as I stand I can feel it move if that makes sense, a very odd feeling.

Anyway I was wondering if there are any excercises I could do to help it heal quickly and completely as I am back at work (sitting a lot) and am also pregnant. I am going to start swimming but wondered if there was anything specific?

Hi I'm an Osteopath. There is nothing specific in the way of exercise that you can do, but you can make sure you give it the best conditions to heal by making sure that first of all it is in the right place, if it is bent inwards, it needs to be pulled outwards using the correct techniques, (You'd need to see a practitioner for this) if it seems to be in the correct place, then your main role is to not keep irritating it by sitting on it! try to sit only on the 'sitt bones' or ischial tuberosities. Definitely use a donut cushion when you can. After 6-8 weeks have some physical work done on the ligaments each side of the coccyx. If you get this done, there is no reason for you to spend the rest of your life with any discomfort, i recently treated a lady for a coccyx problem who hadn't been able to sit comfortably for the last thirty years, and she's now fine! Hope this helps.

this will probably most likely bother you the rest of your life. I did it when i was very young and have had pain ever since. i usually sit on a donut if I am sitting for long periods of time. you can't really strengthen it much thru exercise. unfortunately this is a horrible area for injury.... i'm 25 and did it when i was 11, it still hurts.... i can remember being in school and having to like throw myself off the chair because it would hurt to bad to stand up...

swimmming will be the best in ur condition mine healed took a good 2 years but your gonna experience much more insult on top of injory when delivering and when the baby moves down so yes water will releive the preassure and thats the only way it will heal its self get a good gel or memory foam cushion to sit on als

Girl...Ouch! Specifics short cut: don't you ever do, whatever it was that you did { to break your "tailbone" in the first place}, again, ever, for real, OK?
