I am an American and trying to understand government provided healthcare outside the U.S. Can you tell me about your country's heath system and if you feel a government control system is the way to go? Or would you perfer a system like in The U.S., where it is not and you are responsible for paying for medical care?

in australia we have a government run health system called medicare. when i go to the drs it costs $50, but then i got to the medicare office and get $37 of it back. also all hospital bills are free. but some people still choose to be in private health funds.
