Ringing in my ears - afraid of permanent damage!?!

Question: Over the past few days I've had a consistent ringing in my ears. I listen to my iPod Shuffle on top volume almost everyday for 30 mins to an hour or more. Not heavy rock songs though, just normal poppy songs. On Christmas Eve I was at a family gathering and this idiot blew one of those hand held blow horns quite close to me, I also think it was more in my direction, my initial reaction wasn't bringing my hands up to my ears, but it was very loud, so I did spin around in shock, though I didn't hear ringing in my ears that night, didn't feel pain in them and didn't even hear anything the next day. It was like a couple of days later it began and it's quite consistent now. It doesn't really show when I wake up. Like it
