How do I treat an ingrown toenail?!

Question: I've got an ingrown toenail and am not in a hurry to go to the doctor since I don't currently have insurance. I spent a good part of last night trying to dig it out but I'm not sure if I got it all, it got to a point where there was too much blood and pain to continue so I just soaked it in warm water and epsom salt for a while and called it a night. I'm continuing the soakings today but tomorrow I have to be back at work (where I'm on my feet all day doing manual labor), any recommendations for reducing the pain and swelling, stopping the infection, or removing the things completely?

Your going to have to be sure you have gotten it all out.If left in in will get worse.soak foot in hot water as you can stand it .put 1 drop of dishwashing liquid to water.Let soak 20 min' the take the clippers and dig out the side where it at,it shall come out easily with the soakling .Put some neosporin ointment or vasoline if you don;t have neosporin and a band aid .next morning will be much better.wear a band aid to work to let it heal 1 day///Lots of luck they hurt like heck......

clip other toe nails

soak it in water, than dig it out little by little with the little poky thing on the toe nail clippers that no one knows what it does. Just be sure to starlize it first. Also, be sure to wash teh area, which will prevent infection. Also, be sure to wrap it or put a few bandaids over it, you do not want anything to get in there. Also try some antibacterial lotion, which will keep it clean and sort.
Ok, Pain. It hurts. I know. But you need to just soak it every night and take some tylonal. Sorry, thats the best I can do.

I will start with the fact that I have been married 40 years and have a husband that used to get them . But we solved the problem many years ago. Here is how.

1.NEVER CUT YOUR NAILS DOWN AT THE CORNERS. If there is any blood involved in what you are doing YOU ARE DOING THE WRONG THING.

2.File them flat across the ends only.

3.Take a couple of Excedrin to help dull the pain.

4.Soak them in warm water till they are soft and the water goes cold. Soaking them in HYDROGEN PEROXIDE will help heal them and kill the pain.

5.Take tiny bits of a cotton ball and gently push it down under the corners of the nails with a toothpick. Pack it tightly. Do this to every corner. Leave it in there until the nail grows out even again. If it falls out do it again, until they have grown out square across.

6.This will kill the pain slowly as it grows out. REMEMBER DO NOT CUT THEM, FILE THEM FLAT ACROSS ONLY, NEVER CUT THEM DOWN AT THE CORNERS. THAT IS WHY THEY GROW INTO THE SKIN.

This works every time. If you have cut them down at the corners you are going to have to use NEOSPORIN every time they hurt to kill the pain and allow them to grow out.

Good Luck. I promise you this will work for the rest of your life.

The doc would be worth it cause its awesome watching him operate and mine did this thing to kill the root to where i won't have any more

Mary Anns right id do all of that
