Scar on wrist?!

Question: I have a deep wound on my wrist that was stitched up badly, I went to have my stitches out today, but the wound hadn't closed and is still gaping, they re dressed it but left it gaping. It's likely to scar very badly and will look as though i tried to commit suicide as it is a wrist to elbow wound. Can anybody suggest ways of making it look better that doesn't involve sleeves ie in the summer.

I have a horrible scar across my palm and about 4 inches up my arm, from an injury and subsequent operation. To be honest, nobody ever notices, even when I hold my hand out to get my change in a shop or something like that. So I wouldn't get too worried about it, is what I'm trying to say!

There are products out on the market to reduce the visibilty of scars. Mederma is the most famous one. You can also look into steroid injections, laser treatments, and microabrasian if you are really serious about making the scar go away.

this wont make it go away but put e-oil on it 2 or 3 times a day it helps fade scars.

sry thats about all i can suggest

It would need to heal first but you can us a product called Strixaderm. Vitamin World sells it and it is almost identical to Strivectin but cheaper. It helps reduce the scarring and redness of the skin. It may take half to one whol bottle to see a difference but I did know someone who was in a bad motorcycle accident and had very good results. Here is a link and best of luck to you.

There are special plasters on the market that will help heal and reduce scarring, your chemist will advise. If it still looks bad, I would get a tattoo over it, but I guess this might not be an option for a girl.
It will fade after a few months, so try not to worry about it too much.

when it has healed massage lavender oil into scar,it reduces scar tissue.

If you feel it should still have stitches, and you're not happy with how it was done first time, how about seeing a different doctor to have it re-looked at. Another idea, if it is practical for you, would be to seek the advice of a cosmetic surgeon, as they are used to trying to minimise scars from their surgery, and may be able to offer some tips.

Also consider using some UMF manuka honey. It is a great natural healer for wounds, that helps the healing process and helps to reduce the scaring that can occur. And it has some proper research to back it up. There is a sterilised tube of the manuka honey, or also can get it as a Skintensive cream that also includes vitamin E and avocado oil. Will depend a bit on just what stage of healing your wound is at.
