Chronic neck pain?!

Question: A little over a year ago I was in an accident. My neck was hurt. I went to hospital and got xrays. They said I was ok just having muscle spasms. I started seeing an orthopedic doctor and he said it was just muscle spasms. He gave me exercises to do. they didnt help. put me on meds. they didnt help. i stopped seeing him because he wasnt helping. when i feel my neck something feels out of place. when i move my neck it makes a weird grinding noise. im planning on seeing another doctor. but i was wondering if any of you had any idea as to what it might be. also what are some things i can do to relieve the pain in the mean time.

You probably experienced a whiplash injury to your neck. That type of injury can result in changes of your bone alignment from your neck to the middle of your upper back (between shoulders), your neck and shoulder muscles will tighten in response to the instability to act as a brace and support. It would be a bad idea to try to relax these muscles when the joints in your neck is still unstable. For car accident patients, I refer them to a special type of chiropractor in town who does an excellent job of helping my patients and I recommend you locate one in their referral directory.

you could try eft on your neck. This is a technique which is painless and very successful. check out www.emofree.com

If you have any trouble please email me and I may be able to help you

I was in the same situation (Car wreck and chronic neck/back pain.) I went through the pills, physical therapy, chiropracor, etc....Finally I found a doctor who was a D.O.
(they beleive a lot in natural healing) and had steriod injections in my neck and back. They worked! After two years of chronic pain..I found something that actually worked. The only thing I can suggest is to look into these injections.
