I was diagnosed with this 14 years ago and have had 15 surgeries. Please e-mail me and I can chat with you more about it. There are many surgical options out there. What is your doctor recommending? A lateral release? (That is usually the first surgical step.) It is a very easy surgery and a quick recovery. It is arthroscopic so only a few small holes.
