If i do surgery for my nose, would i have to where a cast on it?!

i had a friend who had a nose job in high school she said it was medical reasons they put a cast on her nose but its not like they wrap it around your head the doctor makes a cast out of the some stuff the would use on a broken arm and tape it on so that you have real protection until it heals
