the injections are designed to get right to the problem area without affecting surrounding tissue, they are not as bad as people its just the idea of spine and needle in the same sentance that puts people off, it conjours all sorts of images.
the injections will probably help you imensly i know they help most people more than they think. if you are worried about it ask to be shown what will happen before you have it done. and remember if you really cant face it refuse treatment (although its going to cause you pain) and ask if there is anything else as you are needle shy.

I have an injection called Sacroiliac iliac nerve block in my back, it is a steroid injection and totally changed my life. You are put under heavy sedation and will not even know you have had it done. It can be painful for a couple of days at the site of the injection, but within a few weeks you will notice a difference. I had my first one 6 years ago and have had two since then. My last one about 18 months ago and been relatively pain free since then.
I had taken various pain killers oraly for years until this injection. My advice would be to have it done, it may not work as well as it did for me but give it a go!. Good luck.

I have no knowledge about it. Sorry

Honestly, the injections aren't that bad. I had a serious auto accident in 2001, had two back surgeries and they are talking about a third to do a spinal fusion or disc replacement - had epidural injections, nerve blocks as well as the procedure where they burned the nerve to kill it. You might feel some pain the first day or so, but after that you should feel some relief. You can have this done under local anesthesia or what they call twilight sleep - I found that the twilight sleep is the best - you drift off and when you come back to, it is all over with. Since I have been going through this I have found so many oral pain medications I am allergic to, I say do the injections - they are the bomb. God Bless.

a friend of mine got these injections and it did help her immensely the injections reach the places where the tablet form do not possible that's way they want you to go to the spinal unit to alleviate your pain and they will help ?and as you know the Neurosurgeons are fantastic and do provide a great service take care.
