That's happened to me after wearing cheap sandals. Make sure the shoes you're wearing are well fitting along the top arches of your feet. I have had my "knots" for 3 years and nothing bad has happened. I think it might be calcium deposits...in my case where my shoes kept rubbing for months and months.
It could be a cyst. My mother inlaw and husband have that. My mother inlaw had hers surgically removed. It's sort of like a lump and it's painless. However, my husband's hurts. You need to see a Podiatrist (foot specialist).
it could be a ganglion cyst. they are common. check webmd.com for detailed info.
are you sure that this is not a wart? may be a cyst ? you should contact a chiropodist or doctor
