Still in pain from fall?!
Question: I feel over a week ago and bruised my tailbone. The bruise is gone but I'm still having alot of pain in my lower back. My doctor can't see me till next week. I don't know if I should go back to the ER. They already gave me meds but I"m still in pain. Is it normal to have this much pain after the bruise is gone?

Yes - and, if you happened to break your tailbone, it may take up to 6 weeks before you are comfortable. Hopefully, you had x-rays during your ER visit and nothing was broken. Injured muscles often take a long while to heal. Continue with your pain meds, hopefully you are also using ibuprofen as an anti-inflammatory also and consider some heat applications intermittently. Also, some gentle stretching/back exercises might help. Anything that gets the muscles warm by activity (sustained for a period of time) brings increased blood flow to the area and promotes healing. Yes, it is a little soon for the pain to be gone. Keep your doctor's appointment for next week and hopefully, you will be much better.
The tailbone takes a long time to be pain free after an injury.
Use a sponge donut pillow to sit on and ice it. Plus be patient. It could easily take 6 or 8 weeks to heal.
