How do you know if there's something really wrong? (important)?!

Question: OK, first let me state that I am somewhat a hypochondriac. About an hour ago, I started experiencing sharp, shooting pain down my right thigh. It happens every once in a while. (ow ow ow, it's happening right now!) I really need to know that I'm ok, or else I'll probably start freaking out. Please help!

Under no circumstances whatsoever visit a chiropactor. There are many stories about people ending in hospital with lifelong injuries after seening one.I n my last visit the guy couldn't even interpret an Xray!

This may sound boring, but costs nothing. That is to lie down sraight on a bed and relax. Watch TVor read a book. Lie down for 2-3 hours and don't get up (have a pee before laying down and have a drink by the bed so you don't need to get up). There is a chance that the pain will subside, and whatever caused it will come right of its own accord.

I promise no miracles, but there is a distinct chance your problems will cure themselves. It is easy, cheap, and has a chance of working.

If it doesn't, do as others here have suggested (except seeing a chiropractor - I wouldn't bend down on the street to save one who was dying - they know as much about medicine as my cat).

did you do strenuous exercise ? is it in th emuscle or bone ?
doesnt sound serious

See your doctor.

It could just be gas. I get pains such as that and gas pains can feel very weird sometimes.

Go to a hospital immedialtly and or a doctor, this can be pains relating to heart attack.

Not everyone gets the same symptoms for heart attacks.

It could be a nerve being pinched

You are in all likelyhood fine. You just need to rest, relax and you can try some over the counter medications to help with the pain and they may make it where you can sleep better. If the pain continues for more than 2 weeks or gets worse then see your doctor.

My advice is go see your doctor. I'm sure he/she can help.

THX!!!

Don't know your age, your weight, your activity level, how long it lasts, etc. It could be an injury, a vitamin deficiency, a growing pain, an arthritic pain. Just not enough info for diagnosis. If it continues, see a doctor.

Really, it sounds alright...
I get that when I haven't gone on a walk
for the day or when I have sat around too much.
Just relax, maybe stretch it a bit.
If you need to, maybe ask your doctor
about it the next time you see them, just
to make you feel better.

OK I can give a couple of reasons I know of for this happening - you dont say your age or anything so Ill just assume everything..

You are about to get or have just started your period - it doesnt always happen to me but a couple of times I have had these pains associated with periods - my aunt has it all the time for me normal is lower back pain but as I said it can happen even just occasionally.

You have done some exercising or more activity than your used to doing and your muscles are just complaining.

You have knocked it (maybe not hard enough to notice) but the pain is coming now.

UMM thats about all I can think of right now but seriously its generally not anything to worry about - if its really painful take some anti-inflamitories or pain killers like Panadol etc and it should have either lessened by tomorrow or gone away - if not make an appointment to see a Dr but I definately wouldnt be worried.

Well, I hate to tell you but... its probably nothing. But in case its not, have you ever had any kind of Blood Clots or generally clotty blood? Is it muscle based or nerve based? (if you can tell)

Try and get a hold of Ibuprofen and take a recommended dose. give it an hour to work and see what happens.

Now if you still hurt tomorrow morning, make a doctors appointment or hit the doc-in-the-box

Good luck to you.

Just get some sleep, even if it was broken, sleep will just help you, drink a glass of milk, have a snack, then get some rest, should be abit sore for a few days, just relax and dont jump around too much. hope you feel better tommorow =]

It's probably your sciatic nerve, I would see a chiropractor.

HI FRIEND,
i am a nurse but don't take my advice as gospel truth. It sounds as if you have a pinched nerve. it's called sciatica. You see the sciatic nerve travels down the thigh. usually it's caused by some kind of disk probem in the spinal cord. this condition is not an emergency as sometimes it comes and goes. but if the pain continues everyday and doesn't stopPLEASE GET MEDICAL ATTENTION. YOU KNOW THE SAYING A STITCH IN TIME SAVES NINE well the same goes for your health. get help now so it does not develop into something more serious. good luck luv tia

see the doctor immediately

Sounds like a Charlie horse i believe it is called
not a reason to go to the Dr's
some times just drinking more milk or getting more
calcium may reduce them
or you could take calcium in pill form
