been there done that there is only one way "my son" crash out of them, cutting down really doe's not work, and now I'm afraid to ask you but here goes are you wearing patches cos if you are, you are overdosing so stop it now.people will tell you to take it slowly that's wrong I QUIT AFTER 30 yrs because i did not want to smoke any more crashed out and reaped the good things in life so can you..

please say cigers or cancer sticks.

Sounds like bronchitis. That has nothing to do with not smoking.

You're doing really well. I think these symptoms are normal. It's all about the withdrawal of nicotine from your system. Good luck.

obviously u wud feel down if u cut donw, its importnat to stick to it

It sounds like you have a sinus infection. Go to the doctor.

keep going! your doing well! these symptoms dissapear after about 5 days once you have given up altogether. Its hard but you can do it - remember the money your saving and the benefits to your health

its because your body still requires nicotine it takes 3 days for your to adjust to the change then it gets so much easier trust me!

Went through the same thing man. Stay strong, it will pass in time and you will feel better than you ever did once it's all over.

No to me it sounds like you have a cold...but coughing up green stuff is normal. The tiredness runny nose and headache are not normal. I quit 3 yrs ago and coughed but noever got the other stuff. Take some medicine and see if that helps ya

You're just going through some withdrawal effects probably. I know you can do it, just keep trying.

Good on you, they are recovery symptoms NOT illness symptoms, congratulations on clearing the muck out of your system. Try upping your vitamin C intake because smoker have depleted Vit C, also I take Vit C at the first sign of a cold and it usually helps.

Keep on going! Smoking is a killer. It killed my grandad, and i promise you, the pain that your feeling now is nothing compared to the pain that other people would suffer if you were to die from it. Smoking will take years off your life. I urge you to keep strong! Try alternative techniques to try and stop smoking. Keep your self busy, and find ways of keeping your energy levels up. Ask you doctor for help

Goodluck, and godbless!

You better quit it right now. Not in a week or so, now.

Franky

you sound more like you have either a sinus infection, or bronchitis...go to the doctor.

Your body is going through withdrawls. Sounds weird, but you know how when drug addicts go to rehab and have to detox and they get really, really sick -- its kind of like the same thing. It will pass and then you will feel great!

Any green flim mucus means you have an infection. I would go ahead and quit smoking all together and ride out the infection. Your body has been given so much junk for so long, it starts craving it. Turn it around and start eating healthy to have more energy. You may stay sick longer, but once you get well you will feel amazing!

It'll pass, it's just the withdrawal symptoms. well done, I'll try and join you. I cut down to about 5/7 a day depending on my stress levels. I want to try it without the patches. Keep it up, you will feel healthier in both body and pocket

You have a VIRUS! Take some good cold medicine and take good care of yourself. The symptoms of the cold are actually made worse by your smoking, and I doubt that you really WANT to smoke with the virus in your system, so USE IT and you'll be very glad to quit smoking on Tuesday. It's NOT that you ARE QUITTING that has you feeling this way ... it's simply that you have caught a virus and that virus is what is making you feel ill.

i quit about 5 days ago, from 20 to 0, got a sniffley nose and am tired, but thats probably cus i'm not sleeping very well and workin long hours

Its called cold Turkey.....

The coughing up stuff is your lungs healing.... I do that everytime I start to quit.... so look at the more the better!! Find someway to busy yourself and something tiring to do before bed.... like walk, walk, walk!!!!
Headaches are something else I deal with when trying to quit too..... your body is so used to the nicotine it WAAAANNNTTTSSS it!
But don't give in. Think over and over about how DANGEROUS and DIRTY smoking is, and just keep on going! Good luck! I have heard the first 14 days are the worst.... heard other things too, but if you keep telling yourself that, then perhaps you'll more feel you're almost in the clear? And maybe for you it will be true!
GOOD LUCK! DON'T GIVE UP!
You are stronger than that cigarette - stronger!!!!

it sounds like you might have a cold on top of nicotine withdrawl. if you're sick, count it as a blessing. I think that's the best time to quit because you're feeling too crappy to even want to smoke. keep your fingers crossed to get a full blown flu or something because by the time you're well, you'll have come a long way in kicking the cravings! i know that sounds really messed up, but it's true for me...good luck!

Aw bless you, it actually seems like your down with a cold or something rather than due to giving up the cigs. However some of the elements do seem due to giving up smoking ie not sleeping and you wouldnt really start to cough a lot until a few days of no smokes.

Well keep the good work up and good luck for Tuesday, but if you get to Tuesday and feel like its not going to happen keep with the minimum you can a day like 5 and try again but make sure your prepared.

It may be a combination of a virus and the bends, as it were. I would visit a doctor to follow up, but your aggressive quitting is going to have an effect on your body. It's just throwing off the addiction, so you feel awful. You may also be sick, so go to the doctor.

I have COPD. I quit smoking about a month ago. I quit, because I had been diagnosed with the COPD......was coughing up the green stuff (that means infection....the green stuff).........had episodes where I just could not breath without my emergency inhaler, and still had to go to E.R.. Not sleeping is one of the side effects of quitting the cigarettes, and, so, I use a little help for that. Ask you doctor for a sample med to help you get to sleep at night.
The stuff you are coughing up is GOOD to cough up......since that means it is taking it out of your lungs and esophogus, but, when you stop, altogether, you will find that you are choking up even more than what you are, now, doing. This will stop, after a while.
coughing up green stuff means you do have an infection, so get yourself to a clinic or to your doctor and get the meds for this. While you are there, ask about something to help you drop off to sleep, as well. Good luck!
I stopped about a month ago, cold turkey, and I feel so GOOD, now!

coughing up the green stuff, is your body taking the chance to finally de-tox itself...
getting rid of all that goo that has been in your lungs and tubes for years.

the awful feeling is the receptors in your brain, screaming for nicotine. they have withdrawal pangs.

some people get colds when they quit, it will pass..
Just remember nicotine is an appetite suppressor,
try to eat normally

Hello.
I think that is wise of you to stop smoking.
Quiting smoking will save your life for sure but I don't think that you should cut of cigarettes completely in one day.
You should do it gradually and remember that your body still regular to have high levels of nicotinee.
Any drastic decrease of nicotin levels can cause you many unpleasant things such as headaches, etc..
Try to smoke less cigarettes in every week give your body the opportunity to adjust this drastic change.
Hope I've helped you

Smoke more....... It IS Big, and It IS Clever.

Sounds to me like you are ill.

I smoke and have recently started a new job where I cannot smoke outside, so I have cut down to around the same as you. I have none of those symptoms.

Get off to the docs just to make sure. Good luck!

hey , well done on you kind of quitting smoking and dont worry its all normal and i believe if you know why it happens it doesnt seem that bad. first of all while smoking your brain produces a chemical to give you that kind of boost feeling. so when smoking your body is used to having it high, so you smoke more to get that feeling again.

now the sleeping problem - try a bath with lavender and rose water, a hot drink like hot chocalte and no coffee. also try to do exercise before sleeping by an hour. headache and runny nose and feeling like crap 24/7 is only withdrawl syptoms. so dont worry its all natural and good luck and let me know how it goes. hope this info is good engouh for you
