If you leave it in there it could infect, metal splinters are more likely to infect than wooden ones. Try soaking your finger in warm water, it softens the skin and it might just come out on its own. I usually just have a hot shower, wash my hair and it's gone by the time I get out. Yet I have to get them out because I work with lead and pewter and don't feel like getting lead poisoning. If you decide to leave it in your finger your body will know it's foreign and it will eventually come out on its own, but if it's red and has a yellowish/greenish tinge to it and it's hurting a lot then you need to get it removed and go on antibiotcs. If a blister forms, do not pop it, if it looks infected do not pop it, let someone like a doctor who knows what he or she is doing deal with it

An infection will depend on what type of material the splinter is, how clean it was prior to going into your finger, and even how clean your skin was that was pierced by the splinter.

Fun, no?

If you have access to a needle, you can open up a small channel in your skin to the point of the splinter and then pull it out. Also, if you have a hypodermic needle small enough, you can follow the path of the splinter, slide the splinter into the hypo needle, and then pull them both out. This is the best method.

Place a piece of very sticky tape over it and then pull the tape off quickly, maybe it'll pull it out with it! Good luck!

Use a disinfected needle and once opened use Hydrogen Peroxide repetitively while trying to remove, when done, use Neosporin..Good Luck to YOU

Use a sterile needle to pull up the skin on top. It might seem tedious so if you don't think you can keep your hand and finger steady have someone else do it. Once you get to the splinter you should be able to get it out with the needle or tweezers. If it is bleeding be sure to wash your hands, put some neosporin on it and cover with a bandaid. If you can't get it out eventually it will most likely grow out as the layers of your skin shed and replace with new skin.
