How Do I Get Rid of My Killer Headache?!

Question: I started getting a slight headache at 7 p.m. I took some Advil. It did not improve my headache but it didnt get worse until 10:30 p.m. By 11 it was unbearable and I took a Vicodin. I waited a half hour for the Vicodin to work and took a shower. The hot water helped, but once I was out the headache was back.

It is now nearly 2 am and my headache is pretty bad. I'm laying on the couch with my laptop trying not to move my head because it makes me sick to my stomach. Does anyone have a remedy? I just want to get rid of this!!!

Despite all of the comments, you have related no symptoms of a migraine except a bad headache. A bad headache can be just a bad headache. You also reported some nausea, but that is also common with other forms of headache. Migraines tend to be recurrent headaches, and the diagnosis of a migraine without aura ( since you described no aura) requires 5 separate headache occasions all lasting over 4 hours and all having key symptoms which you haven't mentioned.

If this headache continues to bother you, and rest, and sleep does not resolve it, or it is the worst headache of your life, you may want to seek a physician.

Don't let people put words like migraine or sinus or even tension or stress headache into your head. These have no meaning without the proper symptoms.

You cannot be diagnosed based on what you have said over the computer so far.

Also one person complained of migraines and then recommended large amounts of caffeine, though caffeine is the most common migraine trigger. She then told you to take Imodium which is for diarrhea (I don't know what that is supposed to do)

Try this acupressure technique
Search for a painful point 1/16th - 1/4th inch (3-6 mm) behind your thumb nail and press it, preferably with a small round-tipped object (about the size of a ball-point pen, though I have had this work with just pressing with the tnumbnail of the other hand), your headache should decrease or will disappear in about 30 seconds. If the pain is felt on the forehead or eye the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 1/16th - 1/4th inch (3-6 mm) below.

Again if rest and analgesics do not resolve the headache, do not waste your money on wax, try to relax, see a health care provider.

EDIT: I saw the response by the second responder and don't want you to waste your money.

Head On is a placebo with no medical value at all!
Chemical analysis has shown that the product consists almost entirely of wax. The two ingredients listed as "active", white bryony (a type of vine) and potassium dichromate (a known carcinogen), are diluted to 1 ppt and 1 ppm respectively. This amount of dilution is so great that the product has been described as a placebo. Each 0.2-ounce stick contains a
