How do you stay upbeat when you're in constant, chronic pain?!

Question: This is something I want to do and hate myself for not doing. So I was wondering how others cope and maintain a positive attitude when they are in chronic pain.

OXYCONTIN

Weed, cannabis, marajuana, ganja, skunk, green, da 'erbal, this is the cure you seek.

some nice narcodtics the doctor perscribes for pain, if your illness is what causes this then they should have you on a pain management schedule.

i usually think of happy memories and then i pray.

well, I have R.A., so try to put a smile on and don't cry infront of people! thats the way i cope!

just smile and bear it. just think about how much fun you are (or going to have) and what it will be like when you are with people you love. just enjoy yourself, and not think about the pain. :)

hope you feel better!!!

have fun!

If its physical pain... I would see a doctor first and foremost.

Otherwise surrounding myself with people that respect and uplift me works, going to church is another extreemly good option i usually use.

laugh as much as you breathe haha really laughter is the best medicine. It makes you feel good and almost forget the pain.

I have back issues,Vicodin helps,but...
Jack Daniels helps also

Don't be hard on yourself for not being able to overcome the effects of chronic pain. In 35 years of chronic pain I was not able to maintain a positive attitude. I wanted to die each morning for 12 years rather than wake up again into such torture. Then I was prescribed morphine. Life became bearable. After methylb12 and a lot of healing, I have nowhere near as much pain and life is the best it has been in 30 years.

I have fibromyalgia and my muscles ache 24/7 this made me so depressed i saw the doctor for it and he prescribed me an antidepressent and even though the pain is still there everyday I am able to smile most of the time because the depression is gone and i see how beautiful life is you may want to consider an antidepressent. he also prescribed me a muscle relaxer and I dont take it because I like to stay upbeat and "with" it.

I have severe degenerative arthritis also affecting the nerves, with severe neurological damages. I have a Medtronic Spinal Stimulator attached to my spinal nerves, nine of them. I've had surgery eight times on my spine and, have had pain for over 14 years without letup. My wife sometimes holds me while I cry. It's very disappointing after retiring and, having this happen.
I also take Vicodin, I won't go for something stronger although it's been suggested and, a pain pump.

It isn't easy, I've been up since two A.M. and will nap after a while if the pain subsides for a few hours.
I spend my time keeping busy in my workshop, I'm a retired carpenter, we also have a quilting shop I made. I keep my mind busy to get it off the pain. When it becomes overbearing, I try to ignore it and take a nap and, rest.

When the time comes to take that step off, through the door, into eternity, I will be with my God and, at peace. Sometimes I look forward to it, the pain gets so bad. Take care and, good luck.

Try meditation - It can tranquilize you nerve, and release your pain. Take deep breath, inhale more oxygen in you lung, hold it for a few seconds and then, exhale. Try it! This will help you.
