Tongue Piercing + Swelling (2weeks later)?!

Question: Hey,
i got my tongue pierced 14 days ago, and everything was normal, it was swollen for 3 days, then it was just a little tender. so i went back to my daily routine of eatting normally. Then day 10 it swells up again, and it is more tender than before, and it hurts again... i'm back to liquids and cold stuff again, but i wanted to know if everything was alright and if there was anything i could do to help the healing.
-i've started to use glyoxicide, and ibproufem.
-i think the swelling my be because i didnt wait the 3 weeks healing time b4 making out...i know i'm kicking myself in the butt about that one now...
Thanks for all the Help!!!

Don't take your jewlery out. It doesnt sound like you planned on it, but don't anyway as it could trap any infection you might have going on within your tongue. This could form an abcess which would then have to be drained. Just leave the jewlery in place and keep cleaning.

I suggest you see your piercer and have them look at it just to be safe. If you can't get to your piercer, show it to another local piercer who is reputable. Explain the whole situation so they know what is going on.

If you are just swollen and don't have any discharge or pain, you've probably just irritated your new piercing. It didn't like eating solids and then being forced to work, so it puffed up. The other possibility is that you slacked on your cleaning too soon and it swelled up to work on cleaning itself. If you've changed your jewlery to a shorter bar, your tongue may not like the new piece of jewlery or the act of changing the jewlery. If you're not sure your new barbell is a high quality piece, head to your piercer and get a new one that is put in.

You may be just fine and cleaning, ice and ibuprofen will solve the problem. Just to be absolutely sure, see your piercer and have them check it out for you. Piercers are there to answer questions, so have them help.

you probably have an infection. you should probably go see a doctor and get it checked out b4 u take it out

IBUPROFEN is for swelling and inflammation.

But for problems or pain in your mouth swish with HYDROGEN PEROXIDE. It heals anything and everything in your mouth. Do this two or three times a day, it will bubble the infection out of the piercing and heal the pain and swelling.

Healing an oral infection is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT as the infection can go straight to your heart by way of the veins.

It really shouldnt be swollen still, you may have an infection, you need to go to the doctors right away and you may have to take the piercing out. Sorry if this is not what you want to hear, but if you just leave it and its infected it can make you quite ill so best to get it checked out soon.
