There's number of reasons for leg cramps but, no real answers, only related opinions.
It could be from lack of vitamin "C" or Potassium, found in Bananas. It could be from Varicose veins or, poor circulation. It could be the harbinger of certain heart problems.
It could be from and, generally is, from back problems, the sciatic nerve.

I take 50 Mg.s of requip once a day, usually at night so it doesn't bother me and, I can sleep.

You should bring this up to your doctor and have some tests made, it would be a benefit for your health, it could be serious.

Probably from over-activity, (your probably very active), the best way to "solve" leg cramps is by stretching !!!

Lactic acid build up

As your body goes through glycolisis - the break down of glucose to energy, sometimes their the metabolic pathway goes to far and leads to a build up of lactic acid.

A couple of things can reduce the occurance - iron, calcium and most of all vitamin c. (Plus plenty of oxygen so you need good lungs - i.e. don't smoke)

Sometimes getting leg cramps means that your body needs potassium...and a good source of that is either bananas, or orange juice...
They are very uncomfortable, I know...especially when they seem to 'lock up'...stretching is probably the best way to work the cramp out, but to prevent them, you might need more potassium.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

Two things might help. Drink more water. I dint like it either but it is better than cramps also low potassium can contribute try eating some bananas.

My doctor suggested quinine. An 'old wives tale that works' is to put some camphor blocks at the bottom of the bed ( if you can stand the smell) inside the sheets I mean. It works truly!

I agree with all of the answers. Also, check into having a vit b12 deficiency. I have had these kinds of pains for years, only to find out almost to late that I have a condition known as Pernicious anemia. Only a blood test can tell you if you need extra help with the b12.

Electrolyte imbalance. Be sure to replenish lost sweat with water or other solutions like Gatorade, ect.

Could be a deficiency of potassium, calcium, magnesium or vitamin B6.
