I just sprained my ankle today, is it gonna be even more swollen tomorow?!


Question: I was playing paintball, was crouching and running at the same time, and twisted it both ways, and sprained it pretty bad, and its really swollen right now, and I've been icing it, keeping it elevated above my heart, but I was wondering if the pain and swelling is going to get better or worse. thanks!

It shouldnt if you continue to ice the area. The swelling is usually worse when you first sustain the injury. Just make sure you stay off the ankle because then the ankle may swell again and you'll definately be in pain. Unfortunately there are not many treatments for sprains other than icing and resting so continue to do this and you should be right in no time. Also, when you decide that you are able to get moving again on the ankle, keep it strapped up in a bandage to releive some of the pressure on the ankle. Always begin the bandage on the bottom of your foot and work your way up the leg so that any swelling does not get contained in the foot area.

although you are doing the right things it will most likely get a little worse and you should probably see a doctor to get crutches so you can stay off it for a while

I sprained my ankle 9 days ago, and it swelled the next day pretty bad. I am currently on crutches and have an ankle brace, IT STINKS! I assume you have sprained an ankle before or saw a doctor, how do you know it's sprained? Go see a doc whenever possible. they'll probably give you crutches so you can keep the weight of it for a while. You'll have to use them for different periods of time, depending on how bad the sprain is. Like if it was a minor sprain, you should use them for about 3 days or so. If its severe, you have to use them for probably over a week.

as long as you keep doing what you're doing it should not more swollen. but if you've hurt it as bad as you said you it could be swollen for 2 or 3 days. you should get crutches.

it's might get a little more swollen but the pain should cool down just make sure to keep doing what your doing and make sure it doesn't get banged up you should also if u haven't seen a doctor you should go he will rub and rap it with alcohol then give u some clutches
