Head pain after excersize in cold?!

Question: Hi

I notice that whenever i do any sort of activity in the cold (biking, jogging, fast paced dog walk) i start getting a bad headache (takes a few minutes to star, its along the sides of my head, if you clench your jaw muscles its where the muscles pop out) and it doesnt stop until i get someplace warm. Im going to try wearing a warm cap when i go out tomorrow, but if anyone has any ideas as to what this could be, it would be very much appreciated. Im not a very active person (mostly do work infront of the computer, first year engineering :P ) and have recently started trying to get a bit more active.

Thanks

Some peoples membranes in their sinuses are thinner then others. This causes what is known as "brain freeze." Usually you get it from eating ice cream too fast or sucking down a milkshake or any other frozen beverage. Try wearing a scarf over your nose and mouth next time you go out to exercise along with your cap.

I have the same problem. I cannot breath any cold air or I begin have pain in my face and get a headache. It has gotten worse. My problem is I have sinus and allergy problems, and the cold aggrivates it. It has got to the point where I cannot stand my room to be any colder than 71 degrees in the winter months. We live in a hot and humid climate where it doesn't get cold very often. Maybe 3 months out of the year it is around the 60's and 3 or 4 time a year, it gets down in the high 30's and 40's.

The body tends to tighten up in cold weather. If your muscles get tight, you can get a tension headache pretty quickly.

I suggest either getting warmer clothes or exercising on a treadmill inside.

Blood vessels can also constrict in the cold, which can also cause some pain.
