Unexplained bruising?!

Question: Raised and painful, about an inch above the wrist, no trauma, it is just there this morning. I did take Day Nurse(paracetamol based cold medicine) last week but I don't think this is side effect to it. What is it? Do I need to have it seen by doctor?

i dont think u would get a side effect form a mediciine one week later. R u sure u havnet hurt it wihout realising? small bruises...but not raised can indicate that ur anaemic....ie low in iron. Try arnica gel or tablets for any kind of bruising. They're homoeopathic and u can get them at boots, holland & Barrett or health shops. Even if u dont visit a gp...pop down to chemist n let em see the bruise n see what they say.

So you have just a ~(haematoma) bruise?
Then if it is still EXACTLY the same in 3 or 4 more days, go to a doctor if you must.

You would be amazed how many bruises "appear" overnight because we have totally forgotten that small knock yesterday!

Night Nurse nor Paracetamol would have any relation to this.

Warafarin...perhaps!

YOU NEED TO GO TO THE DR. FOR BLOOD TESTS COULD BE NOTHING BUT YOU CAN NEVER BE TO SAFE DOSENT SOUND LIKE ITS FROM COLD MEDS ANY OTHER BRUISES GO TO THE ER FOR A PLATELET COUNT

For one bruise I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it gets worse. If you start to notice more of them then you need to get to a doctor. Some people develop a condition called Idiopathic Thromocytopenia Purpura which is an illness where you suddenly have a major drop in your platelet count and this will lead to bruising. This is often treated with steroids or even by removing the spleen. It can also be a sign of leukemia so it's worth checking into. Again, if it's just an isolated situation, don't worry about it...just keep watching for a while.

I work in a hospital lab and we diagnose ITP and leukemia often.

Anytime there is unexplained bruising that occurs frequently, it is advisable to go to a doctor or a family nurse practioner to get lab work done to check for anemia (AKA iron poor blood). It could also be many different causes, but, instead of wondering, be proactive in your care and go do your MD or FNP to get your question answered instead of wondering which can lead to worring and then stress, etc. etc. You know how _ _ _ _ rolls downhill! Good luck!

It can't hurt to go and see the doctor. You may have hit it on something in your sleep tho. But I think you will feel lots better to be sure about what it is so off to the doctor!!

Think if you rolled in your sleep you might have hit a night stand next to you and your a heavy sleeper if not you should wait a day or two and if the pain starts to go away its ok if not see a doctor.
