My right side of my jaw hurts, and I can't open my mouth fully.?!

Question: It's been happening for almost a month now, but just resently it has gotten worse. Now every time when I wake up I can't open my mouth fully, and sometimes i move my jaw left to right to try to make it stop, sometimes it works and when it does it pops or something like that. I'm wondering if it's TMJ, but if it is can it be cured, if so, how?

I have had the same problem for years. My dentist says my jaw is out of line. I wear a gum shield at night because he reckons i grind my teeth and that makes it worse. I get a lot of pain on my right side of my jaw and it locks a lot of the time too and hurts when i click it to unlock it. He told me to stop eating crusty bread, rolls and to cut up anything ie a burger when i eat it so i do not have to open my jaw too wide. Keep my hand under my jaw when i yawn and not chew gum! The only way to cure it as so i am told is to have your jaw broken then reset. But I'm not up for that! My doctor sent me to the dentist saying that it wasn't his Field.Hope i have helped?

I had this happen to me a long time ago. It was essentially lock jaw that came from an ear infection. At any rate, I would see a doctor immediately and get a diagnosis and treatment.
