I'm getting a CT Wednesday, anything I should expect?!

Question: They had to up my CT (cat scan) from 3 weeks, to this Wednesday because of things that showed in my blood tests its being classified an an 'emergency testing', is there anything I should expect?
I'm 16 and doing it at a Children's hospital. I don't like big machines. x] So I want to know what to expect from it, will it be loud? how long does it take? is it cold? do I have to be naked? am I allowed jewelry on (I'd like to know in advance so I can take my piercings off)

I've done a bone scan before, is it like that? I've also had two ultrasounds? is it more like one of those two...

Why do I have to be there at 8:30 am, when my exam is at 10:30. ;s
x]

I prefer someone who has gotten a CT to answer.

I know a lot about CT scans because we do them every day at the hospital where I work.
You didnt say what they are scanning and if they are doing it w/ oral and IV contrast or if you have to prep for the scan.
If they are scanning your abdomen/pelivs, you have to drink a jug of liquid which makes your colon light up like a Christmas tree on the scan.....and your not supposed to drink anything after midnite the nite before.
Its not cold except for the coldness on the table they lay you on. You dont have to be naked and if you wear your own clothes w/ not buckles, buttons or gadgets, you can probably wear your own clothes. We like to put our pts in a hospital gown. Take your piercings out before you leave home.
The scan itself is pretty quick. If they are doing it with dye, they have to put an IV in, so they can inject the dye just before the scan.
Its pretty fast. They put you on a table that has a big round donut looking thing at the end and slowly run you thru the donut hole and its over. You come out the other side.
There are people in the room next to the CT scan looking thru a window at you and you must be very still. They come in and out and look after you and will be talking to you during the scan.
Its not scarey at all, so dont worry about it.
I think your probably going early to drink the gastographin which is the oral fluid which makes your colon light up and makes everything on the scan very visible.
Have fun and dont worry about it. You will be fine.
