Forgett is absolutely correct. You hit a vein, not an artery because you would not have been able to stop the bleeding. The purple is called a contusion. You have bruising inside, under your skin and it is the body's way of healing the cut. You risk infection by not seeing an MD because the vein's blood circulates throughout your entire body and if there is a foreign body in there, you could get a nasty infection. Please, go to the ER like NOW. Feel better,
you need to go to the ER you could of hit a min vain or something major it could be bruising to but you need to get it checked out, to me it sounds like circulation is cut off somehow, you need to be in the car now! be safe not sorry
srry but u wont find many experts on that in yahoo answers... maybe its smarter to get ur *** to a docter and get it checked out
