Can you tell me about sleepwalking...?!

Question: what are the symptoms? are you usually more or less rested feeling than normal the next day?
what causes it?
can it suddenly crop up in adulthood--say, during pregnancy? can having sleep apnea or being sleep deprived contribute to it at all?

anything else?

That's a link that should help you. I'm not a doctor, so I can only tell you about my experience....

I used to sleep walk a LOT as a kid. Now, it generally only happens when I am particularly stressed out. I usually feel less rested when I have been sleepwalking. I might wake up in the middle of my little excursion... There have been times when I wake up and I have been gently taking the picture frames off the wall and setting them on the floor. It's rather unnerving to wake up while your are doing something weird, then glance around and see that you have been doing it for a good ten minutes or so. It used to make me think I was nuts. I found out that if I leave a night light on, I am much less likely to go for a walk. From what I understand, it CAN happen during pregnancy. I have also heard of people who have never slept walked before, to suddenly do it. It happens when you are really busy and exhausted. For example, if you have a million and one things to do, and those things are going over and over in your mind, then you pass out from exhaustion, your brain won't let those things go and you will get up and start trying to do them in your sleep.

When I woke up and had been taking those pictures off the wall, I was stressing about my in-laws coming for a visit and I got it into my head that the walls needed to be painted. So, I went to Home Depot and bought the paint and everything. I cleaned the house, changed the sheets, etc. Then I fell asleep with my clothes on... I suppose that my sub-conscious really wanted to paint the walls that night and that is why I found myself sleep-walking. Good thing I woke up... Can you imagine what the walls would have looked like? lol!

My Mother at 76 sleep walks! Why I do not know, she is in good health, gets a lot of sleep but sleep walks. From my perspective, I have had conversations with her for hours and in the morning she has no recollection. I have caught her trying to climb out the upstairs window onto a veranda that we do not have. One night she was stood at the top of the stairs about to throw a teas made machine at me. She redecorates the bedroom, that means throws objects while sleeping. I find it kinda scary, because you never know what will happen next. I wish I could be more helpful, but as Mother has no recollection the following morning, it is hard to figure out. Good Luck
