Unexplained back pain?!

Question: So, I'm 19, and have had back pain since I was 6. I've had x-rays, bone scans, cat scans, MRIs, and even went through phsyical therapy, to no avail.

The past two months, the pain generalized in my lower back, on the sides of my spine (as opposed to everywhere), and I keep getting shooting pains down my leg. It used to only be like once or twice a day, but now it's like, 20 times a day, and the "shooting" pains take a loooong time to.. shoot... like, up to 20 mins before the pain subsides. It's mostly in my left side, and the other day, I started to walk to the bathroom, and my left leg gave out, and I fell.

Don't know if it's related but I also have a nasty habbit of blacking out when I crack my back (which they told me was vertigo)

Does anyone know what this might be and if it's serious? I don't have health insurance and would like to avoid Dr.s as much as possible. Any suggestions (legal :p) for pain management? (Over the counter NSAIDS don't touch me)

Sounds like your Syatic nerve!! Go see your family doctor and he'll give you anti-inflammatories and Muscle Relaxants!!

well i would go to the doctors instead of asking people they might not knwo

I'd first ask what,if anything , you remember happening when you were 6 and the back pain began. It sounds very serious. And from someone who knows all too well the frustration of Dr after Dr and test after test with no answers,I understand your frustration.
Have you tried massage therapy (has really worked with my back pain),chiropractic ,holoistic medicine? If you'd like I could probably give you some ideas on what/where you can try for yourself having no insurance. Been there, am there! lol!
