Question: Almost every time my hands and feet get cold, my hands and feet break out into hives, why do they do this?? Is it a breakdown in my immune system or could it be something else?

I had hives for over 5 years until I was diagnosed with celiac disease, quit eating gluten(protein found in wheat, rye or barley). The hives have been gone for over 5 years now while I am still on a gluten free diet.
Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disease triggered by your body's reaction to gluten in the small intestine. You can get tested for celiac disease by your doctor and it starts with blood work and possibly an endoscopy.
I much prefer a gluten free diet to the hives I had. Good luck and I hope the hives go away one way or another.

What you have is called physical urticaria. However, it can also be a sign of an underlying disease, including infections and autoimmune diseases. It can also be caused by medications and run in families. Best to get it checked out by your doc just in case there is cause for it.

Here's some great info on it:
