How to breathe through Diaphragm to relax?!


Question: I have anxiety and everyone tells me to breathe through my Diaphragm. I don't think I ever do this properly and when I think about it too much it makes me more anxious. Any suggestions or visualization tips for correct breathing?

In through your nose, keep you mouth shut, fill the lungs all the way down to the diaphragm, then slowly out through the mouth. Close the mouth and in through the nose and so on. Not many people inhale through their nose and that is why so many people have coughs, colds, bad breathing because they only ever use the two upper lobes of the lungs, instead of deep breathing and filling the lungs. Its a bit like closing your mouth and giving a really big sigh! Good Luck

Sit back in your chair, and place your hands over your naval. When you are taking deep breathes, concentrate on moving your hands with your abdominal muscles. Try not to move your chest.
