Muscle Pains..?!

Question: I have this muscle pain or spasm in between my shoulder and neck (my trap) .... I've tried muscle relaxers, works for the time being, a hot bath, muscle rubs... but it's still there. Sometimes it feels like my shoulder needs to crack.. could there be something wrong with my shoulder?? i need this pain to go away... any suggestions?

No short answer, if the pain is unbareable and you have to pop pain killers...head to the hospital emerg. room and get an x-ray...if it's not unbareable, see the chiroprator, he/she will fix you up good...make sure the chiro has a good rep. and if you're not sure about the reputation, make sure the chiro isn't just a chiro but has a complementary education in something like kinesiology, massage, accupuncture, naturopathic doctor, etc. this chiro will be a bit more expensive than your average, but well worth a long term relationship.

you need to release all that stress girl

sometimes the symptoms you report are characteristic of a pinched nerve, and if thats all it is go see a chiropractor, that way you treat the cause not the symptom

just give it time, usually it will go away, however you should see a doctor maybe you broke your neck

I know it's not fun at all, but use ice instead of heat. Ice for about 20 minutes (the area should be sort of numb and red). Icing hurts while you are doing it (cold, achy, etc), but it helps a lot in the long run. If you do that every evening, you'll improve. You can use ice packs with the gel inside, or else just use baggies of ice. Use just one layer of a towel as a barrier (I know, I know, it sucks), because you really want to feel the cold. If you want to get better, trust me, this works. You can also try alternating heat and ice... for every 3 minutes of heat, do 1 minute of ice, swaping about 3 or 4 times. But always end with 15 to 20 minutes of ice.

Massage therapy would help, too (I'm a massage therapist).
