Popped a blood vessel in my eye....?!

Question: i went to the dcotor NOT EYE doctor and she said that if the blood gets bigger, then we should be worried...i dont think thats true, because it got ALITTLE lighter, but not much. Is it true that we should be worried? It cleared up ALITTLE not much but it got bigger, does it just mean its spreading? I dont know... THANKS! :):)

It sounds like you had a subconjunctival hemorrhage, or bleeding on the outer lining of the eye. Subconjunctival hemorrhages are generally due to sneezing, coughing, vomiting, or straining. Uncommonly, they may be due to high blood pressure or a bleeding problem. In general, patients are unaware of the bleed until informed by someone else. There should be no pain, vision change/loss, discharge, or sensitivity to light. As long as you don't have these symptoms, you could wait a few days to see if it improves. Otherwise, see your doctor.

go to the EYE doctor then

that happened to me, and i just let it be. it cleared itself up in a couple of weeks without getting bigger. if it does, then go see the optomotrist.

my dads eye was like that a few months ago, it looked shocking, but cleared up all on its own, yours should too xxxxxxxxxx
