Did I have a seizure?? HELP PLEASE!!?!

Question: Hi..ok..right now I'm totally shaken up over what just happened..here's the story..I recently have lost 75lbs...I "was" on a strict diet and exercise program to lose it..I went from 200lbs to 125lbs..I'm 24yrs old and 5'7...I'm not so strict with everything now that I'm at my happy weight..but now I'm deathly afraid. I just got back from the tanning bed...stood up...got super dizzy..then started shaking and had to grab on to the wall..everything went blurry and I couldn't control my movements..finally I gained control and felt fine.. what happened? was it the weight loss...nutrition problems...or the tanning bed? I've been going to the tanning bed for years..NOT everyday and naturally have a dark color b/c I'm polish..I visit a dermatologist regularly and have no skin problems.. so what happened?? I'm scared as hell and dont know what to do..

Doesn't sound like a seizure.

There are two things that probably happened. Dizziness, shaking, inability to control movement are all part of symptoms in hypoglycemic patients (low blood sugar). Perhaps if you didn't eat much before entering the tanning salon.

Another explaination is orthostatic hypertension which others have said in which you get a sudden decrease in blood pressure when you stand up too quickly thus shunting blood away from your brain making you dizzy. Also I bet when as your trying to maintain/ loss your weight you've been watching your liquid intake quite closely as well since it contributes a huge part to our body weight. However, in your case, I wouldn't be surprised if you were dehydrated during that time. Dehydration also can cause decreased blood pressure and dizziness upon standing up thus, exacerbating your issues.

With that said, best of luck to you. Be well.

i think you should ask a doctor

ok you need to see a doctor! even if it isnt anything huge like a seizure...you still need to consult your doc!!!!

I don't think that was a seizure. I had something like this happen when I was pregnant with my first son. Could be a sugar problem (low or diabetes) could be where you aren't eating proper foods. I had low potassium that made me feel so bad, almost like I was dying. You really need to go have a complete blood workup and see what the underlying problem is.

It sounds as though you stood up too quickly. If you did not have a balanced meal before going to the tanning bed you may have become a bit hypoglycemic (low blood sugar). If this happens, you can slowly sit down and put your head between your legs for a minute or two.
This is probably nothing but if it happens again, and you know that you are eating properly and did not stand up too quickly, best to see a doctor.

It is not a seizure. It could be from your diet or you got overheated while tanning.Did you have anything to eat before you went tanning? It could be from lack of food at that time.

The problem as I see it is that the weight has gone off too quickly. Your blood sugar may have dropped and you went into an epileptic fit. I was on a weight loss supplement that suppressed my appetite back 8 years ago. It prevented me from sleeping for more than 5 hours and that was not good sleep, i always had the jitters, and finally when i got stressed out the seizures started to come and had about a dozen of them.

So from the personal side of things yeah back I had the body of a god but I paid a heavy price for it. My credit got ruined from the emergency room visits, my driver license got taken away of few times, people whom saw the fits thought of me as really sick and some even as a freak, a few teeth got broken as I hit the floor face first leading to super expensive cosmetic surgery. I have since put my life together and have learned not to stress my body and yeah I no longer have the perfect body (but the seizures have stopped) as I did back then but I live in a nice home, drive a fancy car, my credit is A1, and my bank account is fat. The chicks dig me more now and I have more respect than when I had the body and all these poblems that came with it. Good Luck.

blood sugar problem? Blood pressure problem?

Could be several things. See your doctor, and get a good physical.
