Painkillers...are they bad for you?!

Question: So I was in a debate with a friend about painkillers (the average over the counter advil/tylenol type thing). I was saying that people are going overboard with them...and if you aren't in any sort of agonizing/unrelenting pain it is not necessary to be taking them. She thinks there is nothing wrong with taking any sort of meds when one feels even the slightest discomfort. Is it healthy to be taking painkillers for every little thing?

You are perfectly right.

Acupuncture is the best treatment for almost all pains.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.

The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

O no, wow...NSAID which is over the counter pain meds like Tylenol etc.... causes liver damage...she should ONLY take them if she is truly in pain. Otherwise she damages her liver and when she really needs them for pain they won't do anything because she built a tolerance to them...

Pharmacy Tech

Taking painkillers for every little thing sound addiction ! that would go easy for crack or coccaine.

Pain killers are bad for you and you are better off without them. They can cause kidney damage.

Aspirin, for example, can cause stomach bleeding and kidney damage if you take more than one a day.

The fewer pain killers you take the better.

Anything should be used in moderation and, only when needed, see a doctor if pains persist.

A woman recently passed away by drinking to much water ? believe that.

If you have a headache, take an aspirin, if it persists for more than a few days, see the doctor, the same with pain pills. For a specific reason they make life more comfortable, but in excess, they can be hell.
