Help me i think i might die?!
Question: About 5 days ago i had really sensitive skin on my back. Then i started to get a patch of rash on my back and i went to the doctor, she said "the only thing i can really think of is shingles" and she told me no medication and just tylenol, motrin, etc. I thought shingles was supposed to go in a line along your nerve path? Well that was 2 days ago and now im starting to get another patch of rash following the nerve line but also on my leg, and im haveing moderate pain in my mid-back on both sides, mostly on my shingles side, but OW omg it hurts and I don't know what's wrong with me!? I thought shingles was only a line along the path of your nerve but im getting it on my legs and back pain and i can barely stand up cuz of the pain in my back so do you think im going to die? what is wrong with me?

I had a friend who had shingles when he was 14 too. Shingles is actually the reactivation of the chickenpox virus, which you must have had when you were younger.
Shingles usually affects older people, but if you're stressed or have a lowered immune system it can activate as well.
You can also spread the virus to other people, so just be careful around young kids and especially pregnant women. If someone hasn't had chickenpox before they can get it from you :(
If you're pretty healthy, shingles shouldn't last too long. It starts with itchy/tingly skin, then a rash, and then the rash can form small blisters filled with fluid (ick!), which dry out and crust after a few days.
It's not uncommon for shingles to be pretty painful. My friend couldn't come to school for weeks, and he said it hurt a lot.
I'm sorry that it's so painful for you. But I hope for you it only takes a few days to get over the virus. Stay healthy, and don't get stressed!

I was in 9th grade when I got shingles.
Which makes me 14 or 15.
I didn't notice it until I realized I was having really bad back pain, not like rash pain, but muscle and really sore to get up sit down and put my back against the desk.
That night when I got out of my shower I had this really gross rash and went and saw my school nurse, it was Shingles.
So, it went away like 7 or 8 days I think, I dunno that was like 4 years ago.
But good luck! I know it hurts, its a weird infection!

Shingles pain can be very intense because it is on the nerves. The location along your mid-back and sides does sound like shingles. There are medications that your doctor can give you to reduce the pain and shorten the attack of shingles. Ask her about medication. If she does not help you, ask your parents if you can see a dermatologist, who may give you more help in treating shingles.
it hurts, but will get better talk to your folks about the pain if it is that bad maybe you need some pain meds
