Chest pain question?!

Question: When I was 16-17 I used to get some chest pains, I went to the doctor and was told I have a heart murmur, well the pain went away for the most part as I got older (I'm 22 now) But this morning suddenly i began expeirencing bad chest pain. It felt like 100 needles trying to come out of my chest. The pain seemed to originate from the left side of my sternum/directly behind it. It lasted about 30-45 seconds and was then replaced by a bad aching pain similiar to that of a bruise, but this pain spread from my breasts down to my lower rib cage. This has been pretty constant and there have been intervals of the needle pain lasting only 5-10 seconds. I have already made an appt with my doctor for Friday, but I want to see if anyone else has had this or perhaps know what could cause it. Stat wise. I am a 22 yo non-smoker. 5'3" 99lbs.
Thanks!

Doesn't sound good. I have a heart murmur and that can cause chest pain, but with years of no pain and then sudden onset I would be concerned it might be unrelated to your heart murmur and might be another problem. Your risk factors sound low. Did you tell the doctor's office you were having chest pain? Usually they want you to come in immediately if you experience chest pain. If it continues or gets worse you might want to call them back and see if you can get in today.

I have the same problem once an awhile. I went to the doctor about it and i was told that is was nothing to do with heart problems. It was just I had pain. I notice a lot when I'm stresse out. The doctor thinks that is could be realated to stress. But, make sure you doctor tests you for microvascular disease. In that disorder smaller arteries that supply blood to the heart may have plaque deposits that are spread out rather than form a major blockage. A coronary angiogram can miss this potentially life-threatening disorder. So ask you doctor about it when they go to do the tests. I guess this pain happens to a lot of people.
