Do Ace bandages help shin splints??!

Question: I have a bad case of shin splints right now. My left legs throbs from the pain when I walk, jog, play tennis...I've iced it, rested, totally elinated all high impact activities from my daily life, and just recently i bought an Ace wrap to wrap it up. Do you think the Ace bandage will help? Also, I do the exercises that are supossed to improve the pain although it may take another week.

Unfortunatly the only thing that really helps this is not using your shins...which is obviously nearly impossible. I would say that if the ace bandages help you feel a bit more supported then I would use them. However, don't use them for long periods of time because that can cause there to be less blood flow to the area that needs the blood to heal. If you are going to use them only use them when you are doing some kind of physical activity that is more strenuous then normal activity. Best of luck!

No ... rest is the only thing that will help with the complaint. See your doctor or orthopedist for evaluation in that you may have a pathologic (stress) fracture.

Rest, and you can also ice them, then be careful when you start back up exercising.
