Sunburn- blistering, peeling help?!?!

Question: i got REALLY sunburnt during my holiday in fiji...i know i know i should have used sunscreen but it was on the first day and we didnt have sunscreen that day and i feel asleep in the sun (the bright bright burning sun!!) i got really burnt just underneath my bikini top and above on my chest, underneath it blistered heaps and a little on my chest, now (i mostly need help with just under) it was starting to peel so i pulled it all of- im guessing this was a bad idea?? now its all a light pink colour and i read somewhere on here about infections at this stage?? is this possible?? also will it recover with new skin? and if it does on my stomach i am quite tanned and the peeled skin that came of was tanned does this mean my stomach will be different colours??
should i just leave it to recover itself?

sorry for all the questions and its so long!

Depending on the severity of the burn, the skin will eventually come off. If it started to already, there is no harm in 'helping' it. However, don't get too carried away. You could gently scrub it, or peel, either way. Also, If you are experiencing pain, I recommend Aloe Vera gel. In fact, they make a product loaded with the stuff that is just for sunburns!

Hope I was of some help!

Jeremy

I've had experience with sunburns.

It will heal: Just try not to pick at the peeling skin any more.

Take a bath with oatmeal to help sooth the burned areas, and spray them with vinegar. Or spread aloe gel on them. That should help you heal faster.

I can't guarantee that you'll get a nice tan from it, but it will be less miserable.

Good luck!

I would watch the area and if it doesnt subside in the redness go to the doctor right away because that can indicate a rash has set in. Always use a sunscreen and limit your time in the sun to no more than 25-30 minutes and wear a headcovering and sunglasses.
