How deep a wound should be in order to be stitched?!

Question: Open wound located in my left hand middle finger knuckle.

Answers: Open wound located in my left hand middle finger knuckle.

Sutures may be needed for:

a cut more than 1/4 inch deep that has jagged edges or gapes open, especially longer than 1 inch

a deep cut on a joint :elbow, knuckle, knee

cuts that go down to a muscle or bone

cuts that continue to bleed after 15 minutes of direct pressure

Just to name a few reasons to get stitches ... there are more, but I don't think they apply here

Generally, the neccecity for a wound to be stitched is by asking the question: If i left this wound, alone, would the skin heal itself.

If its bleeding a great deal, quite wide or deep, or long, generally, i'd say go to casualty.

Better safe than sorry.

And if i were you, if your tetanus is out of date, see about getting it topped up.
:)

I would say 1-2 inches

when its bleeding. if u hit someone in the teeth it will get infected and even u may die. get it treated.

You need to to the ER right away and have them stitch you up since it's got to be cleaned and sterilized so infection doesnt set in.
