I just had my tonsils taken out on monday, am i doing ok so far?!

Question: surgery went fine and everything was good to the point where i was drinking milk and couldnt stop coughing wich resulted in alot of bleeding! the paremedics came and stayed until it stopped bleeding, i felt like i was gonna faint. so now i have this itching tingling feeling in my throught. i keep spitting which seems to be helping but i dont get why its itching...my doctor gave me liquid vikaden so im not experiencing pain, why is it itching? i did gargle a few times with salt water (the firemen told me to) could it be because of the salt? my sister has a cold right now too, am i getting something from her? i drink alot of water and eat jello (just ran out of pudding) and also popsicles, which help alot. how long till this is over?!

My boyfriend had his removed a few years ago at age 25 and it was awful to watch him go throw it. Make sure you stay on top of the pain and take your medication as directed by your doctor for the first few days at least. No diary...ice cream, milk shakes etc as they cause a build up in phlem and hinder the healing process. The milk you were drinking was a bad idea and the coughing was from the phlem. Drink plenty of water and gatorade to replenish electrolytes. Popsicles are fine and applesauce is good too. Do not drink out of a straw, just drink normally. Buy some liquid tylenol, regular and pm and keep it in the fridge. Take it along with your pain medication and it helps a lot. Just do not exceed 1000mgs of tylenol in one dose and 3000mgs in one day. Your prescription pain medication may have tylenol in it too, so read the label carefully. When you start to feel like you can eat slightly more solid foods, chicken with overcooked mushy rice is a great source of protein and gives you energy. You should feel much better in 7-10 days and in 2 weeks you will be all better. The itching feeling is because you are healing. Feel better!

I had mine taking out so sending you lots of sympathy =]
It will get better, if the itching doesn't stop head to yourdoctors then at least you'll know
