Flip turn gone bad...?!


Question: Well, I was at swimming yesterday, and I did a flip turn, and somehow I pushed off the wall wrong. Now my ankle is a little bruised, and it hurts to do a lot of flutter kick, and dolphin kick. I told my coach, and she just told me to keep going.

My ankle is only bruised in like four places, and it is only a little swollen.

Should I worry about it or just shrug it off?

I disagree with your coach. If you have bruising them you have internal trauma. The fact that it hurts when you use it indicates that you need to stop using it until you can figure out what's wrong. Until you do, using it can make it worse. Chances are you just need to rest it for a few days. Follow the RICE acronym.
Rest
Ice
Compression (An ace bandage but not too tight)
Elevation - keep the foot elevated especially at night above the level of your heart.
If it doesn't start to feel better after a week, you might want to pay a visit to the doc.
