Does wearing heels really give you vericose veins?!


Question: i think i may have one. i have this big greenish looking vein that on my shin...im pale so its kinda noticeable. its not "spider vein" looling, im wondering what it is..its just straight.

could wearing heels have done this?

No, wearing heels does other things (to your back alignment, metatarsal heads--bones & ligaments in the foot) but doesn't give you varicose veins. A few superficial veins are common in almost everyone. Genetics plays a big role in the really bad ones (due to venous valve incompetence).Anything that increases the intraabdominal pressure will cause some as well--the big culprit here is pregnancy--that's because the mass of the baby impedes the blood flowing back to the heart from the legs. Also, standing on your feet all day without stretching & moving plays a role as well.

Usually varicose veins stick out above the skin. Yeah, high heels could cause this (if they're too tight). So can crossing your legs or sitting in the same position for too long
