What do you do for a chemical burn?!

Question: caused by lye and cement

Answers: caused by lye and cement

first wash the chemical off, if its a powder brush off what you can first( being careful not to get any on someone else or a different spot on you). how deep is the burn? once its cleaned off if its only a surface burn it will heal with no problem. If its deeper you should go to a doctor. you may have to put a bandage on it for a few days even if it isn't deep to protect it from being rubbed

u consult a doctor

clean and dry-- silvadene cream, thin layer, cover with gauze dressing-- do not burst blisters, if doesn't improve in day or so, see dr. they will refer you to burn clinic for treatment.

remove any contaminated clothing (if there's any)..
Wash the injured area to dilute or remove the substance, using large volumes of water. Wash for at least 20 minutes, taking care not to allow runoff to contact unaffected parts of your body. Gently brush away any solid materials, again avoiding unaffected body surfaces.
Wounds will be cleaned and bandaged with medicated creams and sterile wraps as needed.
