Why do flourecent lights hurt my eyes? never did before but the past couple year!

Question: also raw white lighting like halogen track lighting , if i look directly at it it makes me feel sick to my stomach and just being under fluorescent lights makes my eyes feel strained. why does this happen and what can i do about it? (p.s. telling me to see an eye doctor is going to get you a thumbs down, obviously i ought to go and i plan to but i am concerned about it so i would like some insight now)

I personally get headaches from them. As you age your eyes can become more sensitive especially with flickerings of lights. Do old computer screens bug you as well? Migraines can also be developed as you age and this could be a sign (or trigger) that may worsen. Don't thumb me down for being the bearer of bad news.

It can be cataracts.. The last link below talks about some eye problems with light.

The sad news is there is nothing scientific to take it away if its migraine development (and if there is someone post it!!)

If you go to Europe the transfer (or flickering) takes longer especially in energy efficent bulbs because their electricity runs slower -thats why you need an adaptor there- so beware any trips there. You can often find some issues with this on the national migraine website.

I don't have any florescent lights in my usual doings, thank goodness. I buy lamps with good covers, opaque glass. If I have to have a clear glass then I use opaque (misted) glass bulbs but cringe at not using energy bulbs then.. Move lights out of your direct vison.
