Please help me??!

Question: Hi,
I am a 14 year old female, and lately (past 5 months) I have been an incredible amount of pain. I had an MRI done in November of my cervical neck/part of my thoracic spine. They said everything was fine, but it is not. I cannot sit any more without have excruciating pain in my right shoulder. If I tilt my neck down, i get an instant sharp pain in my right shoulder blade area. I barley get sleep at night because I cannot get comfortable. I have alot of weakness, and muscle spasm (constant) in my upper portion of my back. I have numbness under my armpit if I use my right arm. I cannot stand all this pain!! I am going to the doctors next month, but does anyone have any ideas. Please don't say what I should be doing; I have tried everything (heat, massage, ice, physical therapy). I just want to know if anyone had an idea of what it could be. Is it possible the MRI missed it?

Thank-you=)

Yes, it is possible to not get properly diagnossed from an MRI, but it is important that you continue to seek help until your pain is under control. Have your parent's considered taking you to a chiropractor before your doctor's appointment next month? He/she might be able to help you with relieving some of your pain. Other than that...just don't give up in your search, and don't take "nothing is wrong" as an answer because obviously something is wrong. If some doctor say's "we couldn't find anything", you say, then send me to someone who can! Your too young to be going through this. Good luck.

It may be a nutritional deficiency or if you have any history of nerve problems in your family it may have something to do with that. I don't know what it is because I don't know your medical history or your family's medical history but it may be worth your looking into because pain is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong. I hope you are able to figure it out. Good luck. Don't give up even if one or two doctors tell you it's nothing keep at it until you figure out what it is.

You might have some problems with you jaw. In other words, when you bite down, do your teeth rest upon each other properly? Sometimes when your jaw is not properly aligned, it can cause shoulder, upper back pain.

TMJ, jaw popping, might also be something to look into.

Hope you feel better soon!

It sounds like you have a pinched nerve in your shoulder or back. This would prob not be seen by the MRI because they were looking for damage to your spine and vertebrate. It would also explain the numbness and why it hurts more when you move or sit a certain way. Go to a neurologist.
